Q & A - Ugly Sister Productions

Threads is a new play and is on at the Pauper's Pit from 21-23 July (follows on from Tape as it happens - looks like some witty programming by Underground Venues). Looks to have a happier ending than Tape though - maybe I'm just being optimistic.

You haven’t played Buxton before why have you decided to come for 2008?
We were advised by several (very trustworthy…we hope) people that this was brilliant festival to be involved in and as we are a new theatre company committed to producing work regionally not just in London then we though this would be the perfect opportunity to demonstrate this!

What reaction do you expect from your audiences?
I hope that audiences leave feeling like they have seen a quality piece of theatre, been told a story and think ummm we must keep an eye out for future Ugly Sister Productions as this is a new and exciting company …umm fingers crossed hey!

Tim Brooke-Taylor, Dave Lee Travis and Vera Brittain. How do you feel about following in the footsteps of such giants?
Brilliant - we hope that our names will be joining that list one day

5 pieces of fruit and veg a day – what do you choose to eat?
Ummm Banana for the morning, apple at mid day, carrots for dinner, and strawberries and raspberries for dessert!

Do you have any superstitions or routines that you follow before starting a performance?
Well I keep threatening to make the actors do a full yoga warm up but I have a feeling I may create a mutiny if I enforce that , so I think the warm up will involve putting up the set!

Buxton Mineral Water – how do you drink it?
On ice with a twist of lime ….

Are there any other performers/artists that you especially admire? If so, who and why?
I am a massive fan of anyone who does stand up comedy, I think that I theatre and storytelling in its rawest form, and is the base from which we should all work to create good theatre.

What question would you have liked to answer here?
Drink?

What is your answer?
A nice glass of red would be lovely thanks..
